Our faiths also teach us to welcome the stranger and care for those without homes or safety. You can submit a welcome letter for our newest neighbors from Afghanistan. They will be compiled in a book for each new arrival.
Jewish Family and Community Services in Pittsburgh is collecting welcome letters for new neighbors. Figure out what you want to say. Then go the www.jfcspgh.org. Look for the black banner at the top of the home page. It says “To help Afghan Refugees, click on ‘Click Here’” and then scroll down to Welcome Home Book. You can submit your letter.

Rabbi Ron Symons is the founding director of the Center for Loving Kindness and Civic Engagement at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh, where he serves as Senior Director of Jewish Life. Rabbi Symons was ordained by Hebrew Union College and has served synagogues and Jewish schools in Pittsburgh, New York, Massachusetts, and Israel.
