Celebrating the Many Colors of Faith

Faith comes in many colors. Dark ones and light ones. Warm ones and cool ones. Intense ones and muted ones. Primaries and pastels. Colors that complement and colors that contrast. Colors that each have character and utility and beauty. Colors that stand on their own with integrity but achieve their greatest power when brought together.

Coloring together at Celebrate Monroeville

For its display at Celebrate Monroeville 2017, the Monroeville Interfaith Ministerium chose to celebrate the many colors of faith by inviting our neighbors to share the simple pleasure of coloring together.

Local artist Debbie Maier Jacknin was commissioned to create a coloring page that could be printed on large panels to be colored at the event, as well as a smaller version that could be printed and shared for personal coloring.

As I drew the page, I thought about all that is going on around me and I have three thoughts I’d like to share. First, my thoughts and prayers are with those bracing for Irma, dealing with Harvey and wildfires, or dealing with personal struggles. Second, there are those who seem to want to divide us. All of which brings me to the how important I feel it is for those of different religions and beliefs to work together with compassion, unity, respect, fellowship, goodwill, and justice.Debbie Maier Jacknin

Once you’ve created your masterpiece, share your work with us! We’ll show it off online and at MIM events. Some tips:
