Dozens of interested community members joined the religious leaders of MIM this week for a panel discussion on "the sanctity of life," followed by a time of Q&A. Religious leaders spoke from their own traditions about concepts such as the value of human life, how to protect human life and what makes life holy. MIM houses of worship observe 2015 Thanksgiving Gathering

In contrast to acts of hate and intolerance, the Monroeville Interfaith Ministerium came together for its annual Thanksgiving Gathering on November 24, 2015 hosted by the Monroeville United Methodist Church. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Unitarian Universalists, Sikhs and Bahais led prayers, chants and hymns in thankfulness for the diversity of America. MIM gives!

The Monroeville Interfaith Ministerium has been providing end-of-month meals to local people who are on food stamps at our various churches and places of worship. The end-of-month meal in November at North American Martyrs Parish, Monroeville,  was coordinated with the help of two of the NAM Ladies of Charity, Pat Massarelli and Marilyn Colosmo. There were 94 people served. Most of these folks got take-out meals although some stayed at experienced fellowship with each other. We are proud of our churches working together to feed the hungry. After meeting with Michelle Majcher, LCSW Social Worker/Home and School Visitor for Gateway School District, I brought an idea before the Ministerium at our December 3rd meeting: to provide hygiene products to Teachers Treasures, coordinated by 5th Grade Teacher Marcie Crow. Teachers Treasures is (per the website): a community resource center conveniently and discretely located in Moss Side Middle School offering gently used clothing, coats, accessories and shoes for men, women, children, and infants.
